May 21, 2007 (newstodate): New projects are underway to complete the modernisation of Russia's Ufa International Airport in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Work on a new terminal is now almost completed, and the equipment is now being installed, while passenger bridges are being installed at the gates.
The airport's two runways will be re-surfaced in 2007, and new runway and taxiway lighting systems will be implemented.
Together with the apron area, runways and taxiways wil remain state-owned, while the terminal and other facilitites may be turned over to regional ownership.
Ufa International Airport has been shortlisted to remain among Russia's airports certified for international traffic.
