May 7, 2007 (newstodate): Since May 2, Lufthansa has operated its new route to Tirana, Albania.
The route will be served from Munich to Tirana twice daily with a CRJ900 aircraft.
-We used to operate to and from Tirana a long time ago, but at that time with only four weekly flights. We have seen a growing interest from Albanians living in Germany to fly back to their home country, and we expect this new route will also facilitate business and tourism, says Karsten Benz, Lufthansa Vice President Sales & Services Europe.
The number of airlines currently operating at Tirana is 14, while the number of direct destinations is 29.
