May 10, 2007 (newstodate): Libya is keen to modernise its fleet of commercial aircraft in the wake of years of sanctions.
The Libyan Government is to invest USD 1.2 billion to modernize the fleet of its two national carriers Libyan Airlines and Afriqiyah Airways.
Plans are to acquire up to 12 Airbus aircraft, but Libya is also in negotiations with Boeing for further aircraft acquisitions.
