May 30, 2007 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo will continue to operate its fleet now comprising five Boeing 757-200 freighters after delivery of its new Airbus A330-200F freighters.
The factory-new Airbus freighters will be delivered with two in the spring of 2010 and two in 2011.
After the delivery, these two aircraft types will be operated in parallel for an undefined time, serving a network now comprising eight scheduled freighter destinations Liege, Brussels, Jonkoping, Humberside, East Midlands, New York, Charlotte and Halifax, but to be vastly expanded to comprise yet-unannounced new destinations in China, India and the Persian Gulf.
Under a new strategy, Icelandair Cargo plans to triple its tonnage and the present revenue as well as tripling its contribution to the Group.
