May 18, 2007 (newstodate): Finnair has announced its decision to add a new direct route to its expanding Asian network.
From May 19 the carrier will operate a route from Helsinki to Hong Kong five times weekly, and from June 4 on a daily basis.
Till now, Finnair has operated between Helsinki and Hong Kong three times a week via Bangkok, and the new direct route will cut four flying hours off the itinerary.
When Finnair starts operating daily non-stop flights to Hong Kong, the route to Singapore three times a week via Bangkok will be discontinued.
In addition to Hong Kong, Finnair also flies directly to Beijing and Shanghai, while a fourth weekly flight will be added to Guangzhou. This will give a total of 25 flights per week to China.
