May 31, 2007 (newstodate): Qatar Airways has confirmed its confidence in Airbus' A350 program, ordering a batch of 80 Airbus A350XWB.
The MoU replaces the earlier MoU, signed in 2005, for 60 Airbus A350 aircraft.
This will make the airline the largest customer for the A350XWB to date and the first one in the Middle East region.
The 80 aircraft order includes 20 A350-800, 40 A350-900 and 20 of the largest in the family, the A350-1000.
With deliveries to start from 2013, Qatar Airways will use the A350XWB to complement its A330 and A340 aircraft on regional and long haul routes.
