May 17, 2007 (newstodate): AirBridgeCargo, a Volga-Dnepr subsidiary, has begun serving regular cargo flights from Moscow to Khabarovsk.
The new once-weekly Boeing 747-200F traffic will expectedly increase cargo volumes at Khabarovsk Airport by 50 percent.
A fixed cargo space allotment is dedicated to the operators of the Sakhalin shelf projects, and as the Yuzhno Sakhalinsk airport is not capable of handling the Boeing 747, ABC has added the stop in Khabarovsk were the oil and gas equipment will be split into several shipments, loaded on Il-76 freighters and delivered to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
The Moscow-Khabarovsk operation is made feasible by the carrier's revenues from cargo loads from the Far East, where Hong Kong and Shanghai are being considered.
