Apr 16, 2007 (newstodate): Sweden has been selected to participate in the ongoing e-freight project.
Sweden's contribution will be the freighter route between Gothenburg and Hong Kong.
Earlier this year Sweden's hopes were dampened as Sweden was deemed not-eligible to be included in IATA's e-freight pilot project starting from this year.
In 2004, IATA launched the e-freight project designed to eliminate the need to produce and transport paper documents for air cargo shipments by moving to a more simple, industry-wide, electronic, paper-free environment.
IATA e-freight pilot projects are to be initiated on key trade routes between five countries from 2007, aiming at 100 percent implementation of e-freight by 2010, where viable.
