Apr 16, 2007 (newstodate): Bulgaria is expected to experience modest growth in export airfreight volumes, 2006-12, according to an analysis prepared for Lufthansa Cargo.
In 2006 Bulgaria generated a total of 8,893 tonnes, and this is estimated to grow by 3.6 p.a. to some 9,500 this year, and to 11,000 by the end of period.
Export airfreight to the European markets, 4,459 tonnes in 2006, will grow by four percent to some 5,500 tonnes in 2012.
Export airfreight to North America, 2,471 tonnes in 2006, will grow by 3.4 percent p.a. to 3,000 tonnes in 2012.
The fastest growth will be seen in export airfreight to the Far East, increasing 5.3 percent p.a. from last year's modest base of 738 tonnes to 1,000 tonnes in 2012.
