Apr 19, 2007 (newstodate): Effective from January 15, the Republic of Macedonia's main airport has been renamed Aleksandar Veliki or Alexander the Great.
The airport serves as the hub of MAT Macedonian Airlines and has till now been known as Petrovec Airport after its nearest village.
