Apr 18, 2007 (newstodate): In contrast to the bleak cargo statistics from Keflavik Airport, Icelandair Cargo reports a sustained growth in volumes.
In March, Icelandair Cargo had a 10.4 percent growth in tonnage, to a total of 4,113 tonnes.
Imports to Iceland grew by 13,7 percent, exports by 1,3 percent, and transit through Keflavik Airport by 37 percent, the company says.
During this year's Q1 the company carried 10,995 tons, up 13.4 percent, y-o-y.
Imports grew by 10.9 percent, exports by 7.7 percent, and transit traffic by 17.6 percent.
Over 80 percent of the freight is carried on the the company's freighters, and the remaining 20 percent in bellyholds on Icelandair's passenger aircraft, according to information from Icelandair Cargo.
