Apr 27, 2007 (newstodate): As part of its strategy to slice-off non-core businesses, Finnair has bid farewell to its Swedish subsidiary FlyNordic.
New owner is Norwegian Air Shuttle that has taken 100 percent of the shares in the company.
-Since the start in 2002, Norwegian has become Scandinavias largest low fares airline. This acquisition will strengthen our position in the Nordic region as well as in the European market. Stockholm will as a consequence be our new base for our operations from Sweden, says Bjorn Kjos, Norwegian CEO.
Finnair and Norwegian Air Shuttle have also agreed on a strong co-operation. Norwegian Air Shuttle's Scandinavian network will be linked to Finnairs expanding Asian connections to support the demand in Asia for travel to Scandinavia and central Europe.
