Apr 10, 2007 (newstodate): Estonian Airlines has decided to add SAAB 340 aircraft to its fleet, replacing the Fokker F50.
The carrier has signed a lease agreement with SAAB Aircraft Leasing for two SAAB 340 aircraft for use on new, thin routes.
The aircraft will be delivered in May and September, respectively, and operated from the carrier's base at Tallinn Airport.
-Estonia has a number of new regional routes to develop, and we are studying currently up to 23 destinations. St Petersburg will be the first market to be developed, historically a significant market for the country, says Borge Thornbech, Estonian Airlines Managing Director.
Saab Aircraft Leasing manages a portfolio of about 200 Saab 340 and Saab 2000 aircraft leased to 25 airlines around the world
