Apr 19, 2007 (newstodate): The CIS export airfreight market is expected to grow by five percent p.a. during 2006-1012, according to a survey prepared for Lufthansa Cargo.
In 2006 the CIS market generated a total of 53,536 tonnes of export air cargo, expected to grow to some 57,000 this year, and to about 71,500 tonnes in 2012.
Asia/Pacific is the single largest market for CIS exports, totalling 20,317 tonnes in 2006 and growing by 6.3 percent p.a. during the period.
Europe comes second with 17,197 tonnes in 2006, expected to grow by 4.6 percent during period, to some 21,500 tonnes in 2012.
Next comes the North American market, with 10,821 tonnes in 2006, and growing by 5.3 percent p.a. during the period.
In this market survey, CIS includes the markets of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrghyzstan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
