Apr 27, 2007 (newstodate): Airbus has now re-adjusted its launch date for the passenger-to cargo conversion of its A320 family aircraft.
Originally 2011 was set as the launch date, but this was later - optimistically - adjudsted to 2010.
At this week's Airbus Technical Press Briefing at Toulouse, Leahy, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer, again set 2011 as the target.
Two packages will be offered, one for the A320 and another for the A321, with a price tag at 4.5 and 5.0 million USD, respectively.
The converted A320 aircraft will have the capacity to carry 10 maindeck AAA containers and three plus four lower deck AKH containers, and a converted A321 aircraft will take 13 maindeck AAA containers and five plus five lower deck AKH containers.
In 2006, Airbus signed a LoI with Irkut, the Russian aircraft manufacturer, to set up a JV for converting A320 family aircraft close to the D-check deadline into freighters.
