Apr 16, 2007 (newstodate): Aeroflot's crucial role in the reorganisation of the Khabarovsk-based carrier Dalavia Airways is only the first step in a comprehensive strategy.
With state support, Aeroflot is actively working over consolidation of airline enterprises of the Far Eastern region, and at the end of the process client airlines will be phased into the Aeroflot Group.
-In the nearest future other air carriers of the region are planned to be attracted to participate in this project. As a result of uniting experience and resources of Aeroflot and potential of the consolidated enterprises there should appear a company that will not only be a serious player in the Russian and international market but will also actively participate in national policy in respect of air carriages due to its enter the Aeroflot group, the airline says.
Many small local and regional carrier in the region have run out of funds and are unable to find means to maintain and upgrade the aircraft fleet.
At the same time, Aeroflot's strategy also aims at strengthening its position against its major competitor, the AiRUnion airline airline alliance.
