Mar 2, 2007 (newstodate): The proposed cooperation between two Ukrainean carriers, AeroSvit and Donbassaero may entail several benefits.
First, the two carriers aim at strengthening their competitive power in the market where they currently hold 46 and 11 percent, respectively, of the passenger traffic market.
But it may also be seen as a move to bolster Ukrainean players in the expectedly fierce competition from 2010 when foreign carriers will gain unlimited access to the Ukrainean market instead of having to apply for rights to operate individual routes, as is the case now.
The two carriers will maintain their individual entitities and brands, and focus on joint marketing and sales efforts and network planning.
