Mar 13, 2007 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo reports a 14 percent growth in cargo volumes in February, 2007.
In total, the carrier lifted 3,500 tonnes of cargo in February, with an eight percent increase in imports and a 14 percent growth in exports, while the US-Europe transfer freight also contributed significantly to the total increase.
During the first two months, Icelandair Cargo thus transported a total of 6,900 tonnes of cargo, up 15 percent y-o-y.
Growth in imports to Iceland was nine percent, exports 12 percent, and in transit 107 percent.
-We expect imports to Iceland to level off during the first quarter and decline somewhat from the second quarter throughout the year, while transit freight will continue its robust grow, but from a lower base, says Petur J. Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo managing director.
