Mar 30, 2007 (newstodate): Ekaterinburg's Koltsovo Airport, in the Russian Ural region, is preparing for a sustained strong increase in its air cargo volumes.
In 2006 the airport generated a total of 15,116 tonnes of cargo, up 30 percent y-o-y.
During the first two months of this year, cargo has risen by 42 percent, to 2,133 tonnes, and the airport now expect the total volumes in 2007 to land around 17,200 tonnes, up another 14 percent.
To cater to this development, the airport has focused on improving terminal and storage facilities, cargo handling facilities and plans are to further enhance the cargo infrastructure at the airport.
