Mar 16, 2007 (newstodate): The Polish courier, express and parcels market has doubled in size in recent years, and is expected to continue growing at double-digit rates over the next few years, according to a CEP-Research study.
Poland has established itself as the major express and parcel market in Central and Eastern Europe, and has long-term potential to grow into one of Europes larger medium-sized markets, the study says.
Both the domestic and international businesses will grow strongly over the next few years, the report showed. The domestic sector is expected to be the driving force with above-average double-digit growth thanks to more logistics outsourcing and the gradual increase in e-commerce.
International shipments will grow more slowly at about seven percent but with stronger potential in the longer term as improved road infrastructure enables higher-quality cross-border express products.
After a series of acquisitions in recent years, Western firms such as DHL, UPS, TNT, DPD and GLS now dominate the Polish market with a combined share of about 80 percent, according to the report.
DHL is the clear Polish market leader ahead of UPS, TNT, DPD and GLS.
