Mar 19, 2007 (newstodate): Kaunas Karmelava Airport, Lithuania, has now secured the financing of its airport projects.
To cope with the traffic and volumes increases, the airport is planning for an airport development project that also includes the building of a new passenger terminal.
After a tender, construction work is expected to start by May already, and the terminal should be ready for operations around the turn of the year, sources say.
In 2006 the airport handled 250,000 passengers and 6,600 tonnes of air cargo.
