Mar 14, 2007 (newstodate): The re-opening of Norrkoping Airport, Sweden, as a certified BIP will change the logistics pattern of Iceland's exports of horses to the Nordic markets.
-The opening of Norrkoping will have some effect on our horse flights to Billund, Denmark, says Petur J Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo managing director.
-Iceland's Exports of horses to Sweden and Finnland were moved to Billund when Norrkoping was unable to receive live animals, but at the same time the trouble of having to take horses via Billund reduced the demand from the Swedish and Finnish markets.
-The loss to Billund will not, however, be proportional to the gain in Norrkoping. There has been a strong demand from Denmark and Northern Germany, and both markets are served through Billund as is much of the Norwegian market, says Mr Eiriksson.
