Mar 15, 2007 (newstodate): The regonal airport at Tartu, Estonia, is optimistic about its future air traffic growth.
Estonian Air is mulling plans for new routes from Tartu to Helsinki and Riga, and some say even Copenhagen, according to a top-level airport official.
airBaltic is also reportedly considering setting up traffic between Riga and Tartu to serve increasing market demands for direct air travel in connection to the city's aeronautical college.
With its short 1,380 m runway Tartu Airport is mainly served by small business aircraft and charters, but the airport is now engaging in a series of airport projects to improve the infrastructure, including an entended runway.
