Mar 16, 2007 (newstodate): Airbus will emerge the winner over Boeing in the long drawn-out battle for Aeroflot's order for 22 new long-haul aircraft.
Aeroflot's general director has told the Russian press that an order for 22 Airbus A350XWB will be signed within "the next few weeks", with deliveries to start from 2015.
The Russian carrier will also order a batch of 15 Airbus A330 aircraft on a 12 year lease arrangement, and this will fill the void till deliveries of the A350XWB will start.
To satisfy the Russian aircraft manufacturing industry, Aeroflot will also take in 20 new SuperJet, formerly know as the RRJ, produced by Sukhoi.
