Mar 16, 2007 (newstodate): The new Aeroflot Cargo has now published its first traffic figures, January 2007.
Aeroflot Cargo has two business segments: one is sale of belly cargo capacity on the mother company, Aeroflot's passenger aircraft, the other is sale of capacity on the company's own freighter fleet.
In January Aeroflot Cargo generated a total of 4,662 tonnes of cargo and 459 tonnes of mail on Aeroflot's passenger aircraft.
On its own freighters, Aeroflot Cargo lifted 466 tonnes only against 4,490 tonnes in 2006 while still a division in Aeroflot.
The significant discrepancy is due to the fact that in January only one of four DC-10-40F aircraft was released to Aeroflot Cargo, with the transfer of the remaining three aircraft still pending.
