Feb 21, 2007 (newstodate): St.Petersburg's Pulkovo Airport will soon be transferred from federal to municipal ownership.
St Petersburg currently owns 49 percent of the stake, but this will expand to 100 percent when the process, already going on, is completed with only a few months.
In the reconstruction process of airport ownership from state to region or municipality, Pulkovo Airport has played the role as pilot project, with the airports of Yekaterinburg in the Sverdlovsk region, and Tyumen, Siberia, considered to be next in line.
Further ahead are similar regional take-over of airports now under state ownership, and this will imply the financial responsibilities for maintaining and expanding the airport infrastructures.
