Feb 2, 2007 (newstodate): The Faroe Islands' Vagar Airport continues its surprising growth in cargo volumes into 2007, with an increase by 35.7 percent to 33.8 tonnes in January.
Air mail also increased in volumes, up 32.8 percent to 34 tonnes.
In 2006 the airport generated a total volume of 922 tonnes, up 7.6 percent, while air mail was down 8.1 percent to 395 tonnes.
Since short-lived FaroJet's demise before Christmas, the Faroese carrier Atlantic Airways is again the only provider of scheduled air services in the market.
