Feb 1, 2007 (newstodate): Bucharest-based Romaero has won a substantial increase in business from BAE Systems Regional Aircraft division and will now provide 25 Large Freight Door (LFD) kits for the ongoing ATPF conversion programme.
This includes the 10 kits ordered under the two companies' original agreement signed in 2003.
Romaero has put in place a five bay ATPF repair and conversion facility at its Baneasa plant and has so far carried out 12 LFD installations. A further eight converted aircraft are due for delivery in 2007 with five of these going to West Air Sweden.
BAE said some 40 ATPs - equivalent to 65 percent of the aircraft type - have now been converted or are in the course of conversion.
-This is a very cost effective conversion programme, priced to the market's needs and which has resulted in great success for all parties, John Williamson, BAE Regional Aircraft VP technical operations, said at a recent press conferenc in London.
