Feb 2, 2007 (newstodate): A Romanian P2F plant will play a significant role in British Aerospace's re-launch of its BAe 146 QT ,Quiet Trader, freighter conversion programme.
Two BAE 146-200 aircraft in BAE's portfolio will be delivered to a conversion facility in Romania, probably in March.
The winning conversion centre is expected to be announced in the near future, and the first aircraft fitted with a large freight door should be available in mid-2008.
At a recent press conference in London, Paul Stirling, BAE senior VP asset management for regional aircraft said the company has been looking at the relaunch for some time and that Romanian companies "scored decisively" on the two issues of good engineering quality and a competitive conversion price.
The target market includes new 146 freighter customers and follow-on ATP freighter operators, he added.
