Feb 2, 2007 (newstodate): Tajikistan's Tajik Air has found that its fleet of ageing and fuel-burning aircraft pose limits to its growth.
In the cargo business, the carrier had planned to carry 4,200 tonnes of cargo in 2006, but only 3,900 tonnes were eventually realised.
At the same time, foreign, including Russian carriers lifted 300 tonnes of cargo in and out of the country, so Tajik Air lost market shares.
In December, 2006, supported by EBRD, Tajik Air contracted Ernst & Young to provide consultancy on the carrier's operations with western-built aircraft.
