Feb 7, 2007 (newstodate): A consortium consisting of the Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group and the Lithuanian company, Lemminkainen Lietuva, has landed an order to modernise Palanga Airport in Lithuania.
The runway is to be widened, lengthened and equipped with new airfield lighting provided and installed by the Siemens subsidiary N.V. ADB S.A., Zaventem, Belgium.
After the euro 6.5 mio modernization project, the airport will become a CAT 2 compliant airport.
The beginning and end of the runway will each be extended by 150 meters, to a total of 2,300 m, and the runway will also be widened to 45 meters.
