Feb 27, 2007 (newstodate): Five Bulgarian airlines have been grounded by the EU after failing to meet flight safety standards.
Air Sofia, Bright Aviation, Heli Air, Scorpio Air and Vega Airlines will need to prove adherence to EU standards before being allowed to operate again.
New cockpit equipment and other on-board equipment must be upgraded before the ban will be lifted, potentially with the next revision of the list by May 28.
