Dec 13, 2007 (newstodate): Berdyansk Airport, in Ukraine's Zaporozhye region, is to be transferred from state to regional ownership.
Due to lack of public financing of its equipment, the airport has been used for charter operations only, but plans are now to re-equip the airport based on a major investment scheme by the regional government.
From June, 2008, the airport aims at seeing air connections to Kiev, Lvov and Moscow, and plans at a later stage for flights to Arkhangelsk, Murmansk and St Petersburg are in the pipeline as well.
