Dec 19, 2007 (newstodate): The Turkish construction company Polimeks has signed a 125 mio euro contract with Turkmenistan for construction of Turkmenbashi Airport, serving the upcoming Azaza region.
As main contractor the Turkish company will construct a new 3,500 m runway, aircraft parking stands and a fuelling station gas well, as well as undertake the construction of new and renovation of existing airport buildings.
Construction works will start from spring 2008, and the project is to be completed by October, 2009.
The contract has been signed during the Turkish prime minister's official visit to Turkmenistan.
