Jon Karl Olafsson will step down and be replaced by Bjorgulfur Johanssson, sources say.
Jon Karl Olafsson will also leave his post as Icelandair CEO, but no successor has yet been named.
The board of the Icelandair Group has decided to separate the two positions as Group and airline CEOs in order to secure neutrality in issues among the group's subsidiaries.
Besides Icelandair the subsidiaries include Air Iceland, Bluebird Cargo, Icelandair Cargo, IGS Ground Services, Loftleidir Icelandic, as well as travel services and leasing companies.
