Dec 19, 2007 (newstodate): Norway's export air cargo volumes have been booming in 2007.
-While we do not have the exact figures yet, my assumption is that volumes have risen by 9-10 percent over last year, says Arne Lossius, DHL Global Forwarding, and chairman of Norway's Air Cargo Forum.
-The world demand for Norway's exports of fresh salmon has reached an all-time high this year and warrants a sustained increase in volumes.
-Norway's official airfreight statistics may seem to indicate a decline in exports, but this is due to increased trucking of salmon exports to continental airports. So in total the volumes are indeed rising.
-We welcome Aeroflot back to Norway with the MD-11F service, and we are convinced that there is still room for more players - and they will turn up in 2008, says Mr Lossius.
According to the latest statistics from Oslo Gardermoen Airport, covering January-November 2007, the airport saw its air cargo export volumes down by 10 percent.
