Dec 14, 2007 (newstodate): Russia's Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport's new multimodal cargo centre was officially opened on December 10, 2007.
With a capacity of handling up to 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually, the new terminal provides facilities for handling of general cargo, VAL, diplomatic cargo, dangerous goods, and temperature-sensitive cargo.
The cargo terminal is an element in the masterplan produced by the German consultancy firm Obermeyer Planen + Beraten for modernisation of Tolmachevo Airport.
The masterplan details the projects needed to turn Tolmachevo Airport into an international air traffic hub, with total investments running into some 20 billion Russian rubles, of which 245 mio Rubles will be spent on the cargo complex
