Dec 3, 2007 (newstodate): Krasnoyarsk Airport admits to problems in maintaining regularity in aircraft operations, but claims the situation has improved.
As one major problem in moving its freighter hub from Astana, Kazkahstan, to Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, Lufthansa Cargo has cited the airport's inadequate technical and operational standards.
-Yes, some claims are true. During the last two years we had some limitations on aircraft operations because of runway and apron reconstruction works. This reconstruction has now been completed, says Sergey Detenyshev,
Projects Director, Supervisory Board of AiRUnion.
-Also, now we have some unavailability to serve this type of freighter aircraft and to provide all-weather operations.
-If Lufthansa decides to use our airport as a hub, we will meet all urgent requirements within six months without any troubles. And in four years we will totally reconstruct the airport with two runways to the level of best international practice without any limitations to the existing operations, says Mr Detenyshev.
The project group is soon to publish a feasibility study, to be used for detailing an extensive investment program.
