Dec 17, 2007 (newstodate): Romania's Sibiu/Hermannstadt Airport has met a delay in its ongoing modernisation project.
While construction of buildings including a new terminal, annex buildings and an airport ATC tower met the deadline in 2007, the runway extension from 2,000 to 3,000 meter with new runway lighting and other systems will not be completed before May 31 2008.
The runway and its infrastructure was to be completed before the end of 2007, but autumn's bad weather conditions have delayed the process.
-Air cargo is not currently included in the airport's business plan, but may become an issue at a later stage, says Martin Bottesch, Sibiu Airport.
