Nov 12, 2007 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Region-Avia has great plans for expansion.
Set up in 2005, the carrier currently operates a fleet of eight AN-28 aircraft on routes from Moscow to destinations including Yakutia, Khanty Mansiysk and Sverdlovsk.
Plans are to set up new routes to destinations in Central and Southern Russia, and the carrier will increase the number of flights from today's 10 to some 40 flights in 2008.
The carrier is also planning to renew its aircraft fleet, taking in six ATR-42 aircraft in 2008.
The carrier also plans to acquire 12 used ATR-42 on five-year contract, and acquire a further 18 new ATR-42 aircraft on 12-year leasing contracts.
