Nov 6, 2007 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo is seeing a fair balance between imports and exports in the Swedish market.
-The proportion is around 45/55, and this is quite satisfactory, says Rolf Carlsson, Lufthansa Cargo manager Sweden.
-Generally speaking we have kept pace with the growing Swedish air cargo market, but due to the strong and growing competition rates are depressed and we are seeing a negative yield trend. We did, however, grow four percent in 2006, and while we do not yet of course have the full-year results from 2007, I am quite confident.
-The dominant market remains Asia, but we are happy to see the North American market, which was earlier the single most important, returning as well.
-Facing the strong market competition and the pressure on rates, our policy is to seek new solutions to our customers, rather than competing over the last dime.
-The Swedish air cargo market is indeed boyant and there is a huge demand for innovative services, says Mr Carlsson.
