Nov 14, 2007 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo's move from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport to Moscow Domodedovo from next year spurs cargo projects at DME.
-In connection with Lufthansa cargo's move to Domodedovo Airport we are considering an expansion of our cargo infrastructure to provide enhanced facilities for cargo operations, says Evgeny Raevskiy, Moscow Domodedovo Airport director cargo.
-We are planning to complete the new facilities over the next 12 to 18 months, with an expected operational life cycle between eight and 10 years.
-We are currently considering five potential construction projects, differing by area and designation, and with a total planned area of 30-40,000 square meters.
-This constitutes the first phase of our cargo infrastructure expansion. The second phase is the construction of a cargo village.
-In order to facilitate the growing cargo flow, the airport should increase its production capacity by up to 10 percent annually, says Mr Raevskiy.
