Nov 22, 2007 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo has launched a new freighter service between Keflavik, Iceland, and Gander, Newfoundland.
The new route is operated with the carrier's Boeing 757-200 freighter in cooperation with Fly Fresh Freight, a Canadian freight forwarder.
The prime commodities are fresh Icelandic seafood products and airfreight linked to the growing oil and gas industry of Newfoundland.
With this new connection Newfoundland is able to connect into the freighter network offered by Icelandair Cargo from Keflavik to several European markets including the UK.
The first flight was November 16, and a weekly service will continue until December 21.
Flights will then commence again in January 2008.
