Nov 7, 2007 (newstodate): The airlift operation to send 20,000 pigs from Denmark to Russia's Krasnodar and Tambov Regions, originally slated for start this autumn, has again been postponed.
The completion of the facilities to house the pigs at the Russian farms is drawing out, and the airlift will thus be delayed to some time in Spring, 2008.
Plans are to ship the pigs off from Danish Billund Airport on chartered freighters from a Russian operator.
The delay in construction works will also require renewed negotiations with potential freighter operators.
The planned operations may comprise some 24 freighter operations to Russia's Krasnodar and Tambov Regions.
