Nov 13, 2007 (newstodate): With effect from October 1, Swedish airport Orebro has resumed own cargo handling.
In August, 2004, the airport launched a cooperation with Swedish cargo handling company Cargo Centre, with facilities at Stockholm Arlanda and Norrkoping Airport, aiming at attracting trucked airfreight for handling of imports and exports, strengthening the logistics services at the airport, and offering Swedish exporters an alternative to cargo handling at Stockholm Arlanda.
The Swedish forwarders have not, however, responded convincingly to the idea that has proved not to generate more volumes at Orebro Airport.
The airport's main business has remained a significant and increasing volume of ad-hoc cargo charter operations, generating some 25,000 tonnes of cargo in 2006.
