Oct 26, 2007 (newstodate): The Uzbek airport of Navoi has been modernised to allow for traffic by larger aircraft.
So far restricted to operations by aircraft the size of AN-24 and YAK-40, the airport can now handle traffic by larger jet aircraft after refurbishment of the infrastructure and implementation of new navaids systems.
Thus Uzbekistan Airlines has launched a new route, served once weekly, between Navoi and Moscow Domodedovo Airport, using Boeing 757 aircraft.
Navoi will become the 11th Uzbek destination in Moscow Domodedovo's route network.
