Oct 8, 2007 (newstodate): The first stage of the reconstruction of Ukraine's Kiev Zhulyany Airport will be completed in 2008.
Included in the project is a runway extension from 1,800 to 2,160 m, new taxiways, a new apron and aircraft parking stands, and the construction of new passenger terminal and removal of the existing one.
Due to Zhulyany Airport's current condition, some 70 percent of Ukraine's domestic traffic is today handled at Borispol Airport, and Zhulyany Airport is keen to win back a share of this, in addition to attracting a part of the international traffic.
