Oct 24, 2007 (newstodate): An air rift is developing between Tajikistan and Russia over Boeing aircraft operations.
The state-owned TajikAir, based at Dushanbe, complains that it has still not been admitted to operate its Boeing 737 aircraft on routes to Russia, including flights to Samara, Orenburg, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg.
In retaliation, TajikAir will now prohibit Russian airlines to operate Boeing aircraft on 19 routes into Tajikistan from the beginning of this year's winter program.
TajikAir has received two Boeing 737-200 aircraft on lease contracts, and plans to add one Boeing 757 aircraft as well before the end of 2007.
