Oct 11, 2007 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo's GSA in Sweden, Scandinavian AirBridge, sees the launch of the carrier's freighter service as only a first step in a further build-up.
-Icelandair Cargo will take delivery of its new Airbus A330-200F aircraft in two years, and we are currently only seeing the preparatory stage of a massive expansion, says Per Wahlsted, Scandinavian AirBridge.
-The carrier's decision to enter the Swedish market with a Transatlantic export air cargo service is indeed well-timed as most other players in the markets, like Singapore Airlines Cargo and Cargolux, have withdrawn their US-bound freigher flights from Scandinavia.
-Icelandair Cargo's announcement of the new freighter service drew immediate response from the Swedish market, and we received many requests from day 1, he says.
