Oct 30, 2007 (newstodate): Scandinavian IATA export airfreight to Africa remains limited in volumes, but attractive in turnover in 2007.
During the first six months of this year, Scandinavian IATA exports accrued to a total of 5,863 tonnes.
Africa-bound shipments from Sweden totalled 2,997 tonnes, up 22.5 percent and constituting 4.9 percent of the entire Swedish IATA export volumes.
Denmark generated 2,028 tonnes, down 7.7 percent and constituting 5.6 percent of the total IATA volume in H1.
Norway sent 838 tonnes of IATA freight to Africa, up 36.7 percent and consituting two percent of the IATA volume in the market.
But as cargo capacity to Africa is limited, rates remain rather attrractive.
Thus 6.9 percent of the total H1 IATA turnover in Sweden derived from African exports, against nine percent in Denmark, and 4.7 percent in Norway.
